In Skin I human skin textures and the forms of silkworm moths interweave within the fabric. These images are mounted on silk. Silk, as the central element of the work, points to the “product” refined from civilisation and elegance. Meanwhile, the hands of labours reveal the often-hidden costs embedded in the evolution of civilisation. By juxtaposing hands, silkworms, and silk, the work re-aligns production, life, and the body, to reconstruct a symbiotic relationship between human and non-human.
